Casting director Janet Hirshenson recently chatted with The Huffington Post about how Daniel Radcliffe landed the lead role. And he revealed that Robin Williams once asked if he could be a part of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone cast as Rubeus Hagrid.

“Robin [Williams] had called [director Chris Columbus] because he really wanted to be in the movie, but it was a British-only edict, and once he said no to Robin, he wasn’t going to say yes to anybody else, that’s for sure,” Hirshenson said. “It couldn’t be.”

Robin Williams‘ offscreen passion for cycling is now helping causes close to the late comedian’s heart.

The actor’s children donated 87 bikes from his collection, which were auctioned through Paddle 8, and the proceeds reached over $600,000 – more than doubling high estimates, according to a statement from the organization. The money raised will go to both the Challenged Athletes Foundation and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

According to Paddle 8, all of the bicycles in the Robin Williams Bicycle Collection benefit auction, which ended Oct. 25, received multiple bids from around the world. One bike, the Master Pista, La Carrera Futura 2000, was sold for more than $40,000.

According to People magazine, Williams was posthumously awarded the 2016 Angel Harvey Heart of a Patriot Award. The publication reported on his wife’s speech, which she gave on a day she said coincided with their anniversary.

“I’m here with you tonight because of my husband’s heart. Robin absolutely had the heart of a patriot,” Susan Schneider said. “I cannot think of a more fitting award for him, nor one that he would be more proud to receive, especially in the presence of all of you.”
